Book Week 2013- Make a model
Here are the
fantastic models made by the children in Room 12. These are based on books the
children have been reading. It is clear that they put huge effort into this
work. Well done!
Book Week 2013- Liam Farrell's visit to St. Catherine's N.S.
Today we were
lucky enough to have another published author visit our school. Liam Farrell
talked to us about his books (THE
UN-TOLD STORY The Trial of the Big Bad Wolf) and explained how he creates
stories from nursery
rhymes
. He also gave us advice on how to become a writer. It
was a very entertaining, informative talk.Book Week 2013- Design a book cover. Design a bookmark.
As we are a Green School,
we are always thinking about the environment.
For Book Week, we thought it
would be fun to create an ‘Environmental Superhero’.
We created book covers
based on these characters.
We wrote slogans to encourage
people to be environmentally friendly. We decorated bookmarks with these.

Book Week 2013- Derek Landy's visit to St. Catherine's N.S.
It is Book
Week. Yesterday we had a visit from Derek Landy, author of the Skulduggery
Pleasant book series. He talked to us about how he became a writer and where he
finds inspiration. He also told us some very funny stories. It was really interesting
and enjoyable.
Science- Energy and forces
We have
been exploring air resistance. We designed and made parachutes for our erasers.
We tested these to see if they had any effect on how fast the erasers fell.
Result:
The erasers fell to the ground more slowly when they were attached to the
parachutes.
