Games- Now and then

Long ago, children didn't have computer games or televisions. We have been learning about games children liked to play in the past. We interviewed older people to find out about the games they played when they were young. We still play a lot of these games.

We had fun trying out some of these games in the hall.

Our walk with Mary

We were out in the school garden with Mary today.
 Oliver planted daffodil bulbs.
We could see the roots and shoots.

Mary said we were a very clever class
because we could tell her all about the oak tree.

Science- Minibeast hunt

We went on a minibeast hunt.
We found ants, bees, earwigs, spiders, woodlice, worms and greenflies.
We worked in pairs to scoop them into a jar.
We examined them with magnifying glasses.
We were very gentle and put all the minibeasts back exactly were we found them.

The Enormous Crocodile- Reading our minibooks

We wrote our own versions of The Enormous Crocodile.
Last week we brought them home to read to our families.
On Monday we got into pairs with children
from Ms Ryan's class and read our mini-books

Science- Fruit and seeds

We looked carefully at the seeds inside fruit.
We noticed that the banana had the smallest seeds
and the peach had the biggest.

Here is the environment we made for Freddie.

 Saying goodbye to Freddie.

Art- The Enormous Crocodile

Poor Roly-Poly Bird.
The Enormous Crocodile snapped off his tail feathers.
We made him new ones.

We made our own Roly-Poly Birds using crepe paper.

We cut card in the shape of Enormous Crocodile characters.
We used these as stencils and made prints using sponges.
